Electronics & Communication Engineering continues to be a growing industry as indicated by the current demand for Graduates and Post Graduates. The Department of Electronics & Communication was set up with the aim of nourishing the students into highly skilled engineers possessing extensive knowledge in the field of Electronics & Communication. We aid to prepare students for careers as professional engineers through an education in fundamental principles presented in the context of real application and design. A palpable excitement surrounds the Department of ECE, the enthusiasm pervades in every classroom and lab, invigorating our students and spurring our faculty on to adapt and innovate and ensure success in a growing market. In an age when electronics plays a major role in daily life and the promise of nano technology is coming to fruition, it truly is a great time to be a part of ECE. Liaison with industry, major research establishments, and learned societies ensures that courses continue to meet the emerging needs of the profession. The department is well equipped with all the gadgets, instruments and softwares required for experiments. Project work throughout the course underpins the necessity for a combination of practical and theoretical skills and abilities. The department provides six week summer training programme on recent technologies to give the students comprehensive theoretical and practical background so that they are constantly aware of the rapid changes taking place in the world of technology.

Apart from the core electronics laboratories, the electronics industry has tied hands with the recent ongoing fields such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Blockchain, Cyber Security, Data Science, Internet of Things (IOT), Robotics etc.

Artificial intelligence is a constellation of various technologies and is widely used in electronics in research and development, manufacturing transformative AI powered electronic devices etc. The data produced by an IOT based system ultimately needs to be analyzed to provide feedback to the system. The analysis part is done by AI and ML algorithms. As more and more smart devices are being manufactured, it is giving rise to cybercriminals and herein comes the need to study cyber security to protect the data. Data science is another emerging field which integrates data acquisition, data analytics and computing to extract meaningful information from massive data sources. Data scientists in ECE make use of digital signal processing algorithms to collect and understand the structure in data. Robotics is an amalgamation of computer science and mechatronics. The information about the sensors, vision systems, signal conditioning equipment, transmission and communication systems used is gathered from an electronics engineer for robotics.
