Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET), an Autonomous Institution affiliated with Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in the following disciplines:

Admission Process:
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
- Candidates who have qualified for national-level examinations such as UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, JRF, GATE, or other recognized tests may be exempted from the entrance test but must mandatorily appear for the interview.
- The candidates are required to appear for a mandatory interview before the admission committee.
Application Procedure
- Interested candidates may apply online or download the application form from the institute website, http://www.piet.co.in.
- The application fee is ₹1,500, payable through online payment or Demand Draft as per prescribed instructions.
- There shall be two categories of Ph.D. scholars
- Full-time scholars: All scholars who pursue full-time research at PIET shall belong to this category.
- Part-Time Scholars: All scholars working in Industrial units, Colleges, Government departments, Research organizations, or other Institutions, sponsored for pursuing Ph. D. Programmes at PIET while continuing to serve in their respective Institutions/ organizations shall belong to this category. They shall pursue research in their place of employment and /or in PIET. However, such candidates will have to complete six months of full-time Course work at PIET. Additionally, they are required to possess a minimum of two years of work experience at the time of pursuing a part-time Ph. D. All the scholars registered under part-time must submit NOC from the competent authority of their respective Organization/Institute.

Financial Assistance
A monthly stipend of ₹30,000/- shall be admissible to candidates who are not availing of any fellowship or financial assistance from any other source.
Duration
- Regular D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.
- Part-time Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of four years after the successful completion of course work, i.e., after registration, and the maximum duration is eight years with effect from the enrollment.
