Technologies at PIET

AR/VR Laboratory

PIET strategically integrates next-generation immersive technologies to enhance teaching–learning processes, research capabilities, and innovation outcomes in alignment with outcome-based education and industry expectations.

Apple Vision Pro is utilized for advanced spatial computing applications, supporting design thinking, healthcare and medical visualization, virtual laboratories, and professional workflows through intuitive eye, hand, and voice interactions.

Meta Quest 2 provides an affordable and scalable virtual reality platform, enabling experiential learning through simulations, VR-based training modules, fitness-oriented learning, and interactive educational content across disciplines.

Meta Quest 3 supports cutting-edge mixed reality applications by integrating virtual and augmented reality, facilitating virtual classrooms, collaborative engineering design, skill-based training, and future-ready spatial computing experiences.

These immersive platforms collectively strengthen experiential and hands-on learning, promote industry-aligned skill development, and encourage innovation-driven pedagogy.

The integration of immersive technologies supports the attainment of Program Outcomes (POs) and Graduate Attributes, equipping students with contemporary technical competencies, problem-solving abilities, and real-world application skills.

Li Fi Research laboratory

The LiFi Research Lab at PIET is a dedicated center for cutting-edge research in Light Fidelity (LiFi)   – a next-generation wireless communication technology that uses visible light (LEDs) to transmit data at ultra-high speeds.

The lab focuses on advancing high-speed, secure, and energy-efficient optical wireless communication, addressing key challenges in modulation techniques, network architecture, system performance, and seamless integration with existing communication infrastructure. By replacing conventional radio waves with light, the lab explores transformative solutions for smart homes, healthcare systems, and Industrial IoT applications.

Over the past four years, the LiFi Lab has demonstrated exceptional research output with 26 patents filed in the domain of LiFi technology. This strong intellectual property portfolio reflects the lab’s commitment to innovation and its growing role in shaping the future of optical wireless communication and LiFi commercialization.

IOT Laboratory

The Internet of Things (IoT) Laboratory is a modern, well-equipped facility that promotes hands-on learning, innovation, and applied research in the fast-growing domain of IoT. The laboratory enables students to design, develop, and deploy smart, connected systems aligned with real-world applications and industry needs.

The laboratory provides students with extensive practical exposure to:

  • Embedded systems and microcontroller-based design
  • Sensor integration and data acquisition
  • Wireless communication and cloud-enabled IoT solutions
  • Development of real-time, application-oriented prototypes

Students are encouraged to transform ideas into working models and scalable solutions across domains such as healthcare, agriculture, smart homes, industrial automation, and environmental monitoring.

The laboratory is equipped with industry-relevant hardware and tools, including:

  • Development Boards: Arduino UNO, ESP32, Raspberry Pi
  • Sensors & Actuators: Temperature, humidity, pulse, IR, ultrasonic, gas sensors, servo motors, relay modules
  • Communication Technologies: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM
