The LiFi Lab at Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Samalkha, Panipat, is a research facility dedicated to advancing Light Fidelity (LiFi) technology, established under the leadership of Director Dr. Shakti Kumar. LiFi is an innovative wireless communication system that utilizes light, typically from LEDs, to transmit data at high speeds. Researchers in the lab focus on enhancing the efficiency, speed, security, and range of LiFi, with the goal of transforming wireless communication by leveraging visible light instead of conventional radio waves. The lab conducts experiments in various aspects, such as modulation techniques, network design, and seamless integration with existing infrastructure. Through these efforts, the LiFi Lab contributes to the potential of LiFi in applications such as smart homes, healthcare, and industrial IoT.
Over the past four years, the LiFi Lab has achieved remarkable success, filing 26 patents related to LiFi technology. These patents demonstrate the lab’s dedication to innovation and its role in expanding the frontiers of wireless communication. The intellectual property generated through these patents will play a key role in advancing the development of LiFi. This strong record of innovation underscores the lab’s contribution to the growing body of research and development in the field of optical wireless communication.
