  • Select fibre materials for different kinds of textile and apparel manufacturing.
  • Understand various technological systems of manufacturing of textile material and apply them for the development of new process and products.
  • Empathize the different methods of testing for textile raw material, yarn, fabric and garment.
  • Comprehend the need of yarns and fabric of customer and produce the appropriate textile material.
  • Analyze the data regarding process control and quality requirements of textile and apparel materials.
  • Understand the management responsibilities related to issues such as social, ethical, environmental and personnel aspects of the textile industry.

Textile industry in India is heading towards a drastic change aiming at remarkable progress and development. In order to fulfill the utmost needs of this industry, a great responsibility lies on the Technical Institutions, which impart Textile education to train the technocrats and enable them to give their best. In this direction, the Department of Textile Engineering of PIET is vigorously marching towards pursuit of technical excellence in textile education. The institute is the second institute in Haryana which offers Bachelor of Technology in Textile Engineering.

In a very short span of institute’s inception, the student representatives of its department have won many prizes in different national and international conferences organized by institutes of world reputated like IIT Delhi, VJTI Mumbai, TITS Bhiwani, & Pearl Academy, New Delhi, etc.

The department is well known for state-of-the-art laboratory facilities as well as experienced and highly qualified faculty.

Located in Panipat, the hub of textile exports, the department has enormous opportunity to build strong industry-institute relationship with the industries in Panipat as well as other industries in northern part of India.

Our students are being placed in esteemed MNCs viz. Vardhman, Arvind, Trident, Nahar, Reliance, RSWM, Raymonds, JCT, Groz-Beckert, and so on. Few of the alumni are currently working in Textile Committee, Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) under aegis of Ministry of Textiles, GOI. Budget-2017 has provided Rs. 200 crore under “Pradhan Mantri Paridhan Rojgar Yojna” to boost employment in garment sector. The department has also fostered tie-ups with TUL, Czech Republic. Selected students have been sent for summer internship in recent past.

For B.Tech. (4 Years) Admission:

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics as a compulsory subject & Chemistry/Computer Science/Informatics Practices as optional Subject obtaining at least 45% marks (42.75% marks in case of SC/ST category).

For B.Tech. (LEET- 3 Years) Admission:

Eligibility : Candidates must have passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology course of 3 years’ duration or more from State Board of Technical Education Haryana or its equivalent with at least 45% marks (42.75% for SC/ST) in the aggregate. Or should be pass in B.Sc. Degree of minimum three year duration from a recognized university with Mathematics as a subject in 12th Standard, with at least 45% marks in aggregate (42.75% in case of SC/ST Candidates).

Note: Admissions shall be made on the basis of the inter-se merit of Online Entrance Test (OLET) for BE/B.Tech. (LEET) 2017 conducted by NIC online on the website : www.onlinetesthry.nic.in. Eligibility and other guidelines are the same as given in the brochure.

Admissions under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme/ PIO/ FN

The admission under this category will be made as per instructions of AICTE/Haryana State Technical Education Society, Panchkula/KUK.
