STC on DOEAT-2017

The department of Mechanical Engineering of PIET has organised a one week short term course on “Design of Experiment and Advanced Optimization Technique” from 10th to 14th July, 2017. The department of Mechanical Engineering has  organised a multidisciplinary  event with an objective  to provide an opportunity to budding researchers, faculty members, as well as students from various branches of engineering/management/applied sciences/and Computer application to have a greater cognizance of  current techniques which are used by researchers to derive the experiment analysis and result conclusion. Apart from the basic theme of the course the topics like plagiarism and how to write a good research paper were also discussed to enrich the knowledge and enlighten the participants.

The inauguration ceremony was performed  by Prof. Dr. Hari Singh, NIT Kurukshetra in the august presence of Sh. Suresh Tayal, Member Secretary, PIET; Dr. K. K Paliwal, Director PIET; Sh. S. K. Khanna, Administrator PIET;  Dr. B.B Sharma, Dean Student Welfare PIET; Dr. S. C. Gupta, Chairperson, CSE/IT Department PIET. During the Course various renowned speakers from reputed institutes like Prof. Dr. Pardeep Kumar, IIT Roorkee, (Ex. Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technical University); Dr. Hari Singh, NIT, Kurukshetra, Dr. Sachin Maheshwari, Acting Director NSIT, New Delhi; Dr. R. K. Garg, Chairman Department of Mechanical Engineering, DCRUST Murthal; Dr. Vivek Jain, Thapar University; Dr. Bhavnesh Kumar, NSIT, New Delhi; Dr. Hasmat Malik, NSIT, New Delhi; Dr. Yogender Kataria, HOD BBA Department, PIET; Dr. Gourav Gupta, HOD IT Department, PIET; Dr. Sanjeev Dagar, PIET  etc expressed their valuable concerns about the issue in hand.

The topics covered by the speakers ranged from Quality, Taguchi’s Approach, Research Surface Methodology, Multicriterion Decision Making, AHP, Fuzzy Logics, MATLAB, and Artificial Neural Network. Overall more than 60 participants took part in DOEAT 2017.The course was divided in 5 days where each day was sub divided in four sessions, three for theory and one for practical work. During lab practice the participants got a chance to try their hand on latest research softwares like Minitab, MATLAB, Design expert etc through which they analyse the results of already published work.

Each speaker has been presented a memento by Dr. K. K. Paliwal, Director PIET, who later in his speech applauded the efforts of Sh. Sunil Dhull, HOD Mechanical department, PIET, Dr. Satish Sharma, Er. Gyanender and Er. Ajay Singh the coordinators of DOEAT 2017 and appreciated the participants for making the event a great success. Each participant of the short term course has been handed a course completion certificate by Dr Pardeep Kumar, IIT Roorkee, Dr. K. K. Paliwal, and Sh. Sunil Dhull.
