Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a great concept of Digital India to bridge the digital gaps in our country and further promoting digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and make governance within everyone’s reach in India. In order to make PM’s vision come true, MHRD, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2018, with an objective to take a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive innovations related to digital technology. Joint efforts were put for solving the various challenges faced by our country. The initiative was a huge success. To reiterate the efforts towards the vision of our PM, MHRD, AICTE, i4C, and Persistent Systems are proud to propose the 2nd edition of this initiative – Smart India Hackathon 2018. This event was being conducted across 28 nodal centres spread across India. Based on the criteria required for this programme, various institutions in India put forth their request for hosting this mega event renowned for technological advancements and innovations and empower the especially abled citizens too.
About 27 Central Government Ministries and 17 State Governments together posted 408 problem statements (340 for software and 68 for hardware) to the students participating in this grand initiative. More than 1 lac students were registered. Overall 14887 ideas were received from technical institutions in India and 17,400-plus teams, 1,296 entries consisting of 8,000 students were selected across the country by the Union HRD ministry during the last 1 year who simultaneously worked at 28 Nodal Centres in India in highly invigorating environment, non-stop for 36 hours from 8 am on 30th March to 8 pm on 31st March 2018. Government departments including the Ministries of Communication, Railways, Science & Technology, Commerce, Tourism, Civil Aviation, Defence, External Affairs, Niti Ayog and the PMO in addition to other central ministries & ISRO were working under the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology had the privilege to be one among the 28 nodal centres in India and the only one in Haryana region. We were chosen to be the Nodal Centre for Central Ministry, Ministry of Communications (Dept. of Postal Services and Telecommunication). We hosted 36 teams with 288 youngsters who coded non-stop for 36 hours during Grand Finale. Student’s brain stormed to find creative solutions for the 13 problems posed by Ministry of Communications. Inauguration of ‘Grand Finale’ of Smart India Hackathon 2018 started at 7.20 in Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology as being one of the nodal centres of the event. Lamp lighting ceremony started in presence of Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, Distinguished Guests, Dignitaries, Participants, Mentors, Judges, Coordinators, and Organisers. The Chief Guest , Sh. Raatn Lal Kataria kindled the lamp of wisdom. It was followed by a welcome dance. Sh. Rattan Lal Kataria, our chief guest addressed the august audience and encouraged the participants to come up with the new possibilities and ventures with the problems taken up by them. He also appreciated the valuable efforts of the college to take up such responsibilities with such a great spirit of responsibility and enthusiasm. Mean while video speeches started at the main centre, New Delhi at 8.05 am and we switched over to the speeches by Co-Chair, AICTE, Dr. Anand Deshpande, Chairman Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe and finally to the video speech by honorable Minister of HRD, Shri Prakash Javedkar to announce the start of the Hackathon,2018. Colourful gas balloons were unleashed in the air by the dignitaries at the end of Inaugural Ceremony to represent the varied colours of the event Hackathon. The Ministries had already done an interactive session between the participating teams and formulators of problem statements so that students could clarify their doubts and consequently they were ready to find solutions during ‘Smart India Hackathon’18’, through video conference across all the nodal centers in India, Hon’ble Prime Minister addressed all the students participating in the event through Live and interactive Video Conference at 8 pm on 30th March, 2018. He was sharing the mantra of success with Smart Innovators of Smart India. He said that about half the projects selected during last year’s Hackathon have been completed and more are nearing completion in the near future. The students were allowed to move from the table only for breakfast, lunch, dinner and recreational activities while tea and snacks were served on the table.
The programme concluded at 8 p.m. on 31st April, 2018. The honourable chief guest of the valedictory function, Smt. Kavita Jain, MLA and Cabinet minister (Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Women and Child Development and Local Bodies) graced the event with her appearance and wise words that have an abiding impact on the young, aspiring minds and enthuse them into becoming a talent pool of the 21st century young India. On Final day of the function College chairman Sh. Hariom Tayal thanked Shri Ratan Lal Kataria, MP Ambala, Haryana, Smt Kavita Jain, Minister of Child and Women Empowerment, Haryana, Dr. M.P. Punia, Vice Chairman AICTE, Shri Prakash Singh, DOT, Shri Adnan Ahmad, Department of Post and all other guests who spared their precious time for the event. He also thanked Prime Minister, Sh. Narender Modi who communicated with participants of SIH 2018. Member Secretary Sh. Rakesh Tayal in his vote of thanks speech congratulated all winners of the event. He thanked MHRD and AICTE for giving PIET an opportunity to host the mega final of the Smart India Hackathon 2018. Smt. Kavita Jain, State Cabinet minister of Child and women empowerment congratulated all winners and Management for hosting this mega event. She told that PIET is one of the leading Institutions in the area of Education in North region. The winners of all the technical events were awarded cash prizes allocated by the Central Government. The first prize was 1 lakh rupees, the second prize was 75000 rupees and the third prize was 50000 rupees. In addition to this, Persistent Systems, Deloitte and KPIT were giving a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to all the winners and AICTE were giving two cash prizes of Rs. 50,000. The railway ministry offered the students discounted tickets and AICTE gives them travel allowance. This event provided students great opportunities to participate and develop their skills in the technological arena for the development of the nation. The Management of Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology deems it a privilege to host this technological grandeur as a noble cause in their institution.

The proposed solution will also do the analysis of this large collected data to monitor the areas that are under low coverage and can also monitor and analyze the need of improvement of the network in that area. Application will automatically collect and generate reports without any manual input required. The collected data will automatically be pushed to our servers and analysis is done at back end itself. The analysis data will be made available to TSPs and also to the Department of Telecommunication in order to initiate one more step in Digital India and Better India.|

The nodes communicate with the central server through a client for exchange of data. This leads to : -> Loads of paperwork -> Unorganized record keeping -> Loss of data & consignment -> No pickup from home facility -> Inefficient tracking of consignment and many other problems. The demand of the modern era is to enhance the system of Indian post to inculcate the benefits and advantages provided by going into an online mode.Indian post is one of the largest postal network in the world facing several issues on the server as well as on the client side.To tackle all such problems , we propose to build a comprehensive framework to integrate the entire mail operations right from booking to delivery into an online process. We will be building: ->mobile application separately for both the customer and the postman ->desktop application for customer and the administrator The customer will be able to use the mobile app to book the service for taking the mails from home by sending his necessary information .The booking is updated on the central database. Also he will be able to track his mail right from his source location to the destination location, also showing the expected time of delivery. The postman will be notified about the location of his pickups of the mails and the postman at destination will be notified about the location of delivery of the mails on his mobile application. After every few hours, the algorithm takes the data of the mails to be delivered to various locations from the central database, and uses it to cluster the postmen to different post offices in an efficient way. After the delivery of the mail by the postman , he will take the authentication details in his mobile application|

So, an application is required that can pick the best 10% of frames from the video to generate the preview video. This preview video can be used to determine whether rest of video is important or not. Video summarization can potentially overcome the problem of information overload due to a large number of videos available to us. A major part of video summarization deals with the definition of important events in a video. This idea has presented several existing techniques to solve this problem, as well as new ones that have been developed and integrated into the video summarization framework.|

A report will be generated by admin regarding key points and conclusions derived in the meeting. Our solution also keeps track on the officials who have attended the meetings or not.|

This increases the time consumed and the number of errors, thereby reducing the efficiency. To ease the parcel delivery process for the Indian Postal Services, the process will be automated with the use of barcodes, and a linear sorting system which will sort the parcels in two steps and drop the parcels in their respective bags automatically. – The barcode is generated by importing pybarcode 0.7 and standardlib commands are used to create barcode as per input. – The barcodes are created as SVG objects which can be viewed in a graphic application or a browser and can be printed. – An optional PIL support would render the barcodes as images. – The barcode is decoded by connecting a camera to the processor and a python script is written to control the camera. – The captured images are filtered to remove noise. This is by blurring, thresholding and by performing some morphological operations on the image. – The barcode is then decoded with Python barcode library. – Each parcel will be guided into its respective bag by using electronic drive diverters. The proposed solution makes it possible to sort an enormous amount of parcels in a relatively smaller amount of time. This highly efficient sorting process will attract many e-commerce websites to tie up with the postal services which will increase the revenue of the government considerably.|

This is a platform independent application that uses a light weight service to channel the recorded mobile network strengths to provide a pictorial representation. This pictorial representation shows the received signal ranging from Very Good to Poor. It monitors the received signal at every 10-minute interval and stores the data locally. After a stable time period of 30 minutes, it sends the data to the server in order to be processed. In case of the device being offline, the data is stored as a multi-valued attribute set that is stored in the local memory and then is channeled to the server once connection is reestablished. This set will contain the carrier details and the signal strengths specified in its units. The received data is mapped and color coded to represent various signal strengths. This data is provided to the user with separate color codes that can be access according to their requirements. Further information is provided in the attached documents.|
