Realizing the importance of games and and sports as an integral part of learning, PIET has been involving all the students in some forms of competitive physical activities. Our objective is to enhance physical abilities and skills of our students while it also provides entertainment to the participants as well as to the spectators. Sports infuse in students the spirit of leadership, cooperation, co-ordination self-regulation, self-confidence and decision-making skills. They serve to ensure fair competition, and allow consistent adjudication of the winner. Thus it serves both the purposes i.e. physical exercise as well as source of entertainment.

The infrastructures for sports at PIET – Basketball Court, Football Ground, Volleyball court, Gym and some indoor games etc are the best in the region. Understanding the importance of sports for the students, the PIET administration is committed to provide plenty of opportunities to students to participate in sports as well as other extracurricular activities.

As the part of the extra-curriculum the Annual Sports Meet is held annually in the college premises. The sports Meet-2018 was organized on 24th and 25th January, 2018 at PIET Campus. During the two day Sports Meet students displayed a rare blend of strength and stamina by zealous participation in outdoor and indoor games. The two-day event was marked by healthy competition among the competitors to win and excel.

The Sports meet 2K18 witnessed an exceptional blend of sports and games, in which both students and faculty participated with equal eagerness and enthusiasm.   During the Sports Meet athletics dominated the show with different types of races, short put, long jumps and many other usual games. The unique feature of Sports Meet is that here the students as well as faculty both participate with equal enthusiasm, thus creating healthy spirit of understanding and competition.

Mr. Parvesh (B.Tech ME) and Ms. Shreya (B.Tech IT) from PIET were declared the best Athletes in Boys and Girls respectively. The “Tug of War” among the faculty members in which both males and females participated, created the main attraction and source of entertainment for all. After a tough competition for the “Tug of War” the team of CE was declared winner. During 100 Meter Race, faculty members and HODs also fiercely fought and it was a source of entertainment and enthusiasm for all. Taking inspiration from the event, many of our sports persons are presently engaged in rigorous training to emulate their seniors’ example, to excel further, and retrieve glory.

The Sports meet 2K17 witnessed a unique blend of sports and games in which both students and faculty participated with equal enthusiasm.   It was an Inter College Sports meet of its kind in the region which comprised games like- Football, Basket-ball, Volleyball, and Athletics etc. DCRUST, Murthal, Arya PG College, Panipat, Gateway College of Engineering, Sonepat, PM College of Engineering, South Point, Hindu College, Sonepat, DITM, Gannaur and IITM, Murthal were the main participants. In this meet Abhinav Dhahiya,(B.Tech 1st Year) and Ms. Manisha (BBA) from PIET were declared the best Athletes in Boys and Girls respectively. PIET Football, Badminton Team (Boys), Badminton Team (Girls) got the 1st positions respectively in fiercely fought matches. Badminton girls captured both First and the Second positions. PIETians got the Second place in the Inter-College Volley Ball and Basket Ball matches also.

The Sports meet 2K16 was an extravaganza of different games and true sports personship with ten teams. It was an Inter College Sports meet of its kind in the region chaired by Dr. Dalel Singh Chauhan, the Director of Sports, KUK. The meet included games like- Football, Basket-ball, Volleyball, Athletics etc. DCRUST, Murthal, Arya PG College, Panipat, Gateway College of Engineering, Sonepat, PM College of Engineering, South Point, Hindu College, Sonepat, DITM, Gannaur and IITM, Murthal were the main participants. In this meet Mr. Yogesh Hooda (CSE) and Ms. Anjali (BBA) from PIET were declared the best Athletes in Boys and Girls respectively. PIET Football, Basketball Team, Volley ball Team got the 2nd positions respectively in fiercely fought matches.

PIETians got the first place in the Inter-College Football Tournament, held at DITM, Gannaur in 2015 and Mr. Nitish was declared as best Athlete. Mr. Amaneet Singh and Mr. Govind Singh won the 2nd and the 3rd positions respectively in “The Best Physique (Body Building) Inter-College Competition” which was held at SD (PG) College, Ambala Cantt. In 2015, the Badminton team of our Institute bagged the 3rd position in Inter-College Tournament held at SD (PG) College, Ambala Cantt.

It is with this educative end in view that Annual Sports Meet is held as a regular feature in the college premises. The sports Meet-2014 was organized on 4th & 5th Feb. 2014 at PIET Campus. The Meet was opened by Sh. Hari Om Tayal, Chairman, PIET. The young sports persons at the two day Meet displayed a rare blend of strength and stamina by zealous participation in outdoor and indoor games, and in the process, got an intensive training in calisthenics. The two-day event was marked by keen contests among competitors to win and excel. Among the many winners in individual & team games, Mr. Nitesh Rana of Mechanical Engineering and Miss. Rubal Chugh of CSE were declared Boys Best athlete & Girls Best Athlete respectively.

Our students also participated in IITM Grand Prix Tournament at Murthal (Haryana) on 27th & 28th March 2014. PIET Badminton Team and Table Tennis team & PIET Basketball Team & Volley Ball Team bagged 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in fiercely fought semi-finals and finals. PIETians got the first place in the Inter College Badminton Tournament, held in Arya (PG) College in 2014.

PIET students have also distinguished themselves in sports abroad. Sanjeev Duhan ‘Patil’ and Deepak Rathee of Mechanical Engineering Final year were the proud members of the National team that competed in Inter City Kabaddi Championship held at Kulalampur, Malaysia in 2010-11. Taking inspiration from them, many of our sports persons are presently engaged in rigorous training to emulate their seniors’ example, excel further, and retrieve glory.
