International Women’s Day celebrated on 8th March, 2017 in Department of Management Studies

International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March, 2017 in Department of Management Studies, Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology with full pomp and glory. This event was a tribute to the contribution of women in shaping the modern world. It was marked by songs, skits and presentations to celebrate women empowerment. Successful overcoming of challenges by National and international women achievers such as Kalpana Chawla, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson of SBI bank; Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO of ICICI Bank; Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman and MD of Biocon; and Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media Ltd. were discussed and presented as role models to emulate for the young women of today. Students gave dance performances to signify women as an epitome of grace and beauty. The highlight of the event was a soul stirring skit dedicated to create awareness on the exploitation and atrocities faced by many women in their own homes since childhood itself. Mrs. Priyanka Sehgal, HOD, Department of Management Studies, congratulated the students for their memorable performances and urged them to unite against discrimination still faced by women in many spheres of life. In the end, all students, male and female, took a pledge to work towards eliminating gender inequality and towards making the world a better place for women to actively fulfill their hopes, dreams and ambitions.
