The Computer has
revolutionized not only the data processing and storage,
but also the quality of life, communication,
manufacturing and transportation. The IBM computers of 60s
and 70s era have been totally replaced by mini and
microcomputers. PC has become a household commodity.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the college
from 2006-2007 session and a B.Tech Degree course in Computer Science and
Engineering was started with an intake of 60, now increased to 120.
The department has developed state-of art laboratories in the field of Computer
Science and Engineering – DBMS lab, Internet lab and C Programming lab each
consisting 25 P-IV (IBM & COMPAQ).
The curriculum in Computer Science and Engineering laid a great emphasis on
design and development, in addition to software packages. Miniaturization
in computer technology, audio-video and image processing, storage and retrieval,
data processing and communication etc are going to affect the computer knowledge
in the coming decades.
This department will aim much more than the prescribed university syllabus,
keeping an eye towards the fastest growing computer industry. Programs for
training students to different operating systems will be conducted on regular
basis. Experts for both faculty and students will conduct specialized training
in latest technical areas.
Some of the software’s available at the Computer Science and Engineering
Department is: Red Hat Linux9, Turbo C++, McAfee Antivirus V4.5, Oracle 9i,
Microsoft Office XP Prof., Windows 2000 Prof., Microsoft .NET, Windows server
2003.
